Found this link on BUSA. There was a rumor over a year ago about BMW purchasing the rights to the Kymco My Road 700 which turned out to be an April Fool's joke. This story talks about the development of a line of V-Twin engines including a 500, 650 and 800 for potential use in Maxi-Scoots. It's always interesting to see what might be on the horizon.

Two Up Riding

Hi All,
Was wondering if there is/are some proven/suggested practice procedures for getting use to two-up riding. Keeping in mind that I've had my Swing now for two years, am pretty well adept at handling it in most any given situation, but was a brand new rider when I got it. Short of a quick jaunt out in my pasture or a few blocks in town, I've never carried a passenger before. Any suggestions ? ?

Note: I'm posting this on 3 forums in case it looks familiar now.

I was beginning to lose faith that Spring would ever arrive, here in the mountains of northern NM. It's been four months! since I've ridden, but today, God must've figured He'd tested my patience long enough, cuz we have here a most magnificent Spring-like day, sunny and dry dry dry dry dry!, temps in the mid to upper 50's!

The muddy, soggy, rutted, at times impassable dirt road that I have to negotiate is also, finally!, DRY. So I moved my bike up to a neighbor's property for parking under ...

I rode the Swing for the trip leaving Perth Friday 10a.m. with 2 other members as travelling companions.
Sad to tell you all,

A silverwing rider was killed, here in Tulsa, on Saturday at 2:00 PM by a hit and run driver. Olin T Lewis was 91 years old and a USN WW2 vet.

I'll be attending his services and interment with PGR that will provide escort and a flag line tomorrow. They have not found the person that hit him, yet.

Hi,

I'm going to have 30,000 miles on my bike soon and am having my tires and wheel bearings changed this next week. When I called the service dept, and asked for an appointment, he seemed to give me the impression that the wheel bearings are/can be a really pain to change. I have had a lot of work done at this shop, with different scooters, and they have always been great.

My question: Is it really that hard to remove and re-install new wheel bearings on both tires? I always change ...

I have been watching the treadlife on my new tires (hoops). The rear has only about 2000 miles and is almost to the wear markers, and starting to look flat across the tread. About 600 miles have been 2 up with my wife. This puts us over the rating on the sticker under the seat, but at least 100lbs under the rating stamped on the tires. The darkside tire raises the loading rating by another 100lbs or so. So I am thinking about changing.

Making a right turn through an intersection, quickly because the light had gone yellow I hit a patch of sand left by a sander for the morning's frost on the road. The SW got halfway sideways on the stuff but riding it out with the throttle open to prevent highsiding kept things surprisingly well under control, couldn't have been better on a dirt bike. I've been wondering how the scooter would do with those small tires, now I expect it to behave pretty much ...

An Original Story written by Dennis Berney 2010

The Gold of the Marinette

The warm Caribbean sun filtering down through the beach umbrella felt like heaven to Ben. He opened his eyes just a little and looked at Vespa not more than a few yards away, standing in the beautiful blue water of the Gulf of Mexico.

"She looked like a post card, the kind the hotel sells to tourist" he was thinking.

"This is the life" as he took another long slow sip off his cold umbrella ...

I made a bracket today so I could mount my Magellan 2200T GPS on my Silverwing. I've been curious to see how much difference there would be between the SW's speedometer and the GPS. I was pleasantly surprised to find the error between them was no more than 3mph up to 70mph. In the 20-50mph range the difference seemed to be around 2.5mph or at least a bit more than 2mph but not quite 3mph. My SW has IRC tires which may produce a different error rate than other brands.

I know how the variator works, but it looks like it has TWO variators.

I was wondering what happens to the "slack" when the variator changes pitch, but now I can see that both the front and the rear gadgets change proportionally.

Here's my brain's attempt to understand:

1. The front gadget is the clutch. The fat coil spring tends to keep the cones squeezed together, and that's what takes up the slack of the belt.

Greetings All,

My wife and I ride 2005 SilverWings. Prior to the SWings we had 2003 Reflex(es, i,?).

We each have a short commmutes to work so most of our riding is long distance touring or long days out and back. There are plenty of great challenging roads within 400 miles of Huntsville so we stay busy.

We are members of the North Alabama Scooter Club, a fledgling group at this point although we hope it will grow.

The ride was in the Livermore & Tracy, California area. Nice slower winding roads and the weather was great. We were going to ride up to Mount Hamiliton on Saturday, the day before this ride, but it was raining that day so we got 10 riders that could make the Sunday ride. We would have had about 15-20 riders ...
